This amped-up new sound—immediately dubbed raga-rock due to the Byrds newfound fascination with the music of Ravi Shankar and John Coltrane—is best exemplified by "Eight Miles High," yet another national pop smash, and "5D (Fifth Dimension)," both swirling, multi-hued masses of sonic energy on an interplanetary scale.
