The great tenor Ben Webster is heard on seven selections with Duke Ellington's Orchestra from the 1941-43 period, jamming with pianist Teddy Wilson's pickup septet on \"I Got Rhythm\" in 1936 (a band also including violinist Stuff Smith and trumpeter Jonah Jones), guesting with the Woody Herman All-Stars in 1945, sitting in with Mezz Mezzrow on \"Lady Be Good\" and performing four numbers with a little-known version of John Kirby's Sextet (featuring either Charlie Shavers or Hot Lips Page on trumpet, clarinetist Buster Bailey and the underrated altoist George Johnson).
