The pink vinyl edition of the "There Near" LP by Dinosaur Jr. is being released on Jagjaguwar and transfers the new material directly to the medium: densely woven walls of guitars, striking melodies, and a concise running time define the release. The edition highlights the warm, slightly translucent vinyl as a colorful accent to the physical album and puts the focus on timbre and dynamics.

The record was created in short, intense sessions at Bisquiteen Studio in Amherst, with the band working mostly as the core trio — J Mascis (guitar/vocals), Lou Barlow (bass/vocals), and Murph (drums) — while local additions come in the form of piano and organ parts by Ken Mauri. The recordings aim for immediate band chemistry and raw guitar energy, with arrangements that shift between driving rock tracks and more restrained ballads.

Musically, Dinosaur Jr. stays true to its distinctive style: ragged, slightly otherworldly vocals, cutting choruses, and sprawling guitar solos shape the sound, while Lou Barlow’s songs like "Blowin’ Up" and "No One’s Ready" provide melodic counterpoints with pointed lyrics. The tracklist — including the single "Several Got Away," "Put It Down," and other cuts — shows the band in a phase that reaches back to its early guitar heft while also embracing more balanced, melodic moments.
