Eels - Cookie Happened

NEW VINYL LP ON PLAY IT AGAIN 2026

180 GRAM VINYL LP

Since the 1990s, Eels have stood for a singular blend of indie and alternative rock that weaves pop melodicism together with electronic and folk elements. Equally characteristic are the stripped-down arrangements and moments of orchestral density; the band moves fluidly across genres while remaining clearly identifiable as the creative space of songwriter E.

Mark Oliver Everett, most often simply called E, forms the creative center of Eels: he writes the majority of the songs, plays several instruments, and shapes the narrative dimension of the tracks. Lyrically, his writing repeatedly returns to themes such as loss, loneliness, and reflection, with personal experience forming the basis of the lyrics. This distinctive mix of intimacy and sarcastic warmth runs through the entire body of work and also characterizes the new releases.

What sets Eels apart is their ability to combine catchy melodies with emotional depth: clear vocal lines, carefully placed instrumentation, and a strong sense of recognizability in E's compositional signature. The colored vinyl edition of "Cookie Happened" thus fits organically into the project's discography.
