22-Pistepirkkos Big Lupu er måske det mest interessante eksperimentelle rockalbum i årevis. De er forblevet den enkle og minimalistiske lyd, men alligevel føles det så imponerende. Big Lupu er 22-Pistepirkkos rejse gennem rock, pop, folk, country, lo-fi, electronica og alt muligt imellem dem. Det er en logisk opfølgning på deres to tidligere album, The Kings of Hong Kong og Bare Bone Nest. 22-Pistepirkko er bare forblevet det samme koncept, men forstørret deres lyd på samme tid. Som resultat lyder Big Lupu lidt skrøbelig, men en rimelig helhed. Selvom 22-Pistepirkko har koncentreret sig om at skabe en ambitiøs lyd, er Big Lupu fuld af iørefaldende omkvæd og hitsange. Derfor fungerer den for både krævende rock- og poppublikum.
