Veteran soul/blues-sangerinden Etta James var kun 16, da hun i 1954 lavede sine første indspilninger til Moderne plader. Hun var 63, da Burnin' Down The House blev indspillet i House of Blues i West Hollywood, Californien, i december 2001 - og det er tydeligt, at vokalmæssigt mistede hun ikke noget undervejs. Bakket op af et stramt og stensikkert band demonstrerer James, at hendes store, fyldige stemme ikke mistede noget af sin rigdom mellem 1954 og 2001.
