Korn’s seventh album was a major transitional moment for the Bakersfield band, as it was their first without founding guitarist Brian “Head” Welch (though he’d return to the band in 2013). It was likewise their last with original drummer David Silveria. Despite this, the record presents Korn as a unified force of nature. Under the guidance of pop producer The Matrix, songs like “Twisted Transistor” and “Liar” exquisitely rabbit-hole Korn through shades of hooks-heavy metal, industrialized harmony and their signature 7-string grooviness. This 20th anniversary edition comes served-up on “Magenta Cloudy” vinyl, and includes bonus track “Last Legal Drug.”
