Oprindeligt udgivet på Def Jam i 2005, LL Cool J's sjette dobbeltplatinalbum, Mr. Smith, var noget af et comeback-album for hiphoplegenden efter hans hardcore rap-omvej med 14 Shots to the Dome. Hjem til de tre top 10-hits "Hey Lover", "Doin' It" og "Loungin", demonstrerede Mr. Smith tydeligt, at LL stadig havde overbevisende ting at sige ti år inde i spillet, og at han var bedst, da han greb ind i sin romantiske side. Gæsteoptrædener af Boyz II Men, Keith Murray, Terri & Monica, Prodigy, Fat Joe og Foxy Brown skader heller ikke.
