"Thurston indspillede primært på akustisk guitar og bas, og lagde kernen af melodierne med trommeslagerlandsmanden Sonic Youths Steve Shelly og violinisten Samara Lubelski, en kendt spiller fra MV/EE og The Golden Road, Hall of Fame og andre fantastiske sammenkomster samt soloartist. Thurston tog fat i en helvedes plade med John Agnello'en, og efter at have mikset den gode plade med John Agnello. Sonic Youths 2006-morder Rather Ripped De besluttede at arbejde i Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis' Bisquiteen-studie (øverste etage i J's Amherst-hus faktisk), hvor Dino lavede deres Beyond-album.
