For 25 år siden udgav The Notorious BIG sit andet album, Life After Death. Dobbelt-LP'en blev udgivet posthumt af Bad Boy Records. Den blev nomineret til tre Grammy-priser: Bedste Rap-album, Bedste Rap-soloptræden for “Hypnotize” og Bedste Rap-optræden af en Duo eller Gruppe for “Mo Money Mo Problems”.
Med kunstnere som 112, Jay-Z, Lil' Kim, Ma$e, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony og Too $hort, sammen med numre som "Kick In The Door", "What's Beef", "Notorious Thugs", "Ten Crack Commandments" og "Sky's The Limit", kan man sige, at Life After Death er et af de største rapalbum nogensinde. Albummet nåede førstepladsen på Billboard 200-hitlisten og den amerikanske top R&B/Hip Hop-hitliste. Det opnåede diamantplaceringer alene i USA, dobbelt platin i Canada og platin i Storbritannien. Life After Death har også optrådt på de bedste musikhitlister over hele kloden. Albummet er blevet rangeret af utallige publikationer som et af de bedste rap- og hiphop-album nogensinde (The Source rangerede det som nr. 8 i 2005). I 2013 udnævnte VIBE Life After Death til det bedste hiphop/R&B-album siden 1993.
