Parliament - Mothership Connection

Inspireret af Motowns samlebånd af lyd, sammensatte George Clinton gradvist et kollektiv på over 50 musikere og indspillede ensemblet i løbet af 70'erne både som Parliament og Funkadelic. Mens Funkadelic forfulgte psykedelisk rock i bandformat, engagerede Parliament sig i en funk-fri-for-alle, der blandede påvirkninger fra gudfædrene (James Brown og Sly Stone) med freaky kostumer og temaer inspireret af 60'ernes syrekultur og science fiction. Fra starten i 1970 og indtil Clintons opløsning af parlamentet i 1980 ramte bandet R&B Top Ti flere gange, men udmærkede sig virkelig på to andre områder: storsælgende, effektive albumerklæringer og det mest blændende, ekstravagante liveshow i branchen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parliament_%28band%29
