"Hotspot" blev for det meste indspillet i Hansa Studios, Berlin, og mixet i The Record Plant, Los Angeles. Den blev produceret og mixet af Stuart Price og byder på ti splinternye Tennant/Lowe-numre inklusive singlen "Dreamland" med Years & Years, som blev udgivet i september. En anden af sangene, "Burning the heather", har Bernard Butler på guitar og er indspillet i RAK Studios i London.
