A Whole New Thing er debutalbummet til Sly and the Family Stone, udgivet i 1967. I modsætning til senere Sly and the Family Stone-albums blev A Whole New Thing indspillet live i studiet i stedet for at blive overdubbet og indeholdt mindre pop-følelse end senere udgivelser såsom Dance to the Music. Hovedvokalen deles mellem Sly Stone, Freddie Stone og Larry Graham; Rose Stone ville ikke slutte sig til bandet, før de begyndte at arbejde på Dance to the Music.
