Party of One fungerer som det første soloalbum nogensinde fra den legendariske guitarist/vokalist George Thorogood. Udgivelsen indeholder 14 snit af traditionel blues, klassikere og moderne blues-sange, fra John Lee Hookers "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" til Hank Williams' "Pictures From Life's Other Side" og The Rolling Stones' "No Expectations". Part Of One blev produceret af Grammy-vinderen Jim Gaines (John Lee Hooker, Luther Allison og Stevie Ray Vaughan), som genforenes med Thorogood på sit debutsoloprojekt, efter at have produceret flere af hans største albums til dato (Ride 'Til I Die, The Hard Stuff, The Dirty Dozen). Pladens primært akustiske instrumentering – inklusiv slide, Dobro og mundharmonika – udføres udelukkende af Thorogood, råt og nedstribet med en intim en-til-en-følelse.
