This album actually has little to do with that later period, but is still a very good representation of early Miles at his best, forging ahead with his own cool bop style. This sextet features Davis on trumpet, a young Jackie McLean on alto sax (his debut recording), Sonny Rollins on tenor sax, Walter Bishop Jr. on piano, Tommy Potter or Charles Mingus on bass and Art Blakey on drums.
