John Lee Hooker had been making some heavily amplified records for VeeJay but this 1960 album on the Riverside label favoured a raw, stripped down, barebones acoustic approach. Hooker is joined on measures the tracks by two Cannonball Adderley sidemen – upright bassist Sam Jones and drummer Louie Hayes.
