Stan Getz '57 – although the material was recorded in 1953 – a key year for Stan's musical development – at a time when he was just beginning to unfurl some of his best new ideas at Verve Records! The album's a crucial session with Bob Brookmeyer on valve trombone – also at a great early point in his career, and making some really magical sounds next to Stan's tenor – both of them a mix of lyrical and modern, yet in different ways – and with different tonal ranges that really make the music sparkle. Other players include John Williams on piano, Teddy Kotick on bass, and Frank Isola on drums – and the tracks are nice and long too – titles that include "Fascinating Rhythm", "Minor Blues", "Pot Luck", and "Love & the Weather"
