After veering hard into country (and country-pop) territory with Country Songs for City Folks, Jerry Lee Lewis came roaring back with Memphis Beat in 1966, featuring his hardest rocking sounds in years, and a band who were as good as any with whom he'd ever recorded. Actually, "Drinkin' Wine, Spo-Dee-O-Dee," "Just Because," and "Hallelujah, I Love Her So" were three-years-old at the time of their release on this album in 1966, but the rest was new material featuring this band, most of it offering more drive and raw excitement -- especially in the title track, especially written for Lewis -- than anything Lewis had done in a couple of years. http://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Lee_Lewis
