Sun Kil Moon’s Mark Kozelek has announced the follow-up to his acclaimed LP Benji. Entitled Universal Themes.
Spanning eight tracks, the album includes the previously revealed “The Possum”. Kozelek recorded in San Francisco, California and Hoboken, New Jersey, and enlisted Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley to play drums.
Upon its release, Universal Themes received acclaim from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from critics, the album received an average score of 80, which indicates "universal acclaim", based on nine reviews.
