If this live set didn't slaughter the concept of the power trio, it sure helped provide the ammunition. West, Bruce & Laing here sound more like three kids feeling each other out and playing until they could get a small piece of it, than like a working band with three excellent musicians meshing well. The four tracks show a few individual strong points from the individual musicians (even if we really didn't need an umpteenth version of Bruce's "Politician," anywhere) but even less real cohesion than their two studio albums showed. On paper it looked like a great idea for the three to hook up. But only on paper.
